Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MOVEMENTALITY?

We specialise in supporting people working through chronic pain and dis-ease management, leveraging our blend of Pilates, Somatic Movement Therapy, and Functional Neurology. With over 20 years of teaching experience between us, we’re genuine experts and industry leader, having also presented educational content across many mediums, nationally and internationally.

All sessions are delivered either in studio or online.

I’VE NEVER DONE PILATES BEFORE - IS THAT OK? HOW DO I START?

Of course it is! Depending on what you’re looking for, we have a couple different starting points. All clients start with an initial 1:1 consultation, and then we can determine which option will be best for you.

WHAT IF I HAVE AN INJURY OR FEEL UNWELL?

Ash and Rob both have plenty of experience working with acute and chronic injuries. This is the same with long-term illnesses or conditions. You will be guided to work at a level of load that you can tolerate with the goal of facilitating gentle but consistent change.

If you feel unwell and can not make it to your class or appointment, you need to let us know via phone or email, or better yet cancel yourself out. We’ll do our best to reschedule you where we can, when you feel better.

WHAT IS YOUR LATE CANCEL/NO-SHOW POLICY?

For all sessions, we have a 12 hours cancellation policy. We understand life get’s busy and things pop up - because we run on membership system, we do our best to be flexible with cancellations and rebooking, as long as another client hasn’t had to miss out. In this case, the session may be forfeit or a cancellation fee can be paid to restore the session.

I’M PREGNANT - IS IT SAFE TO DO PILATES?

Absolutely! Often, it is highly recommended as it can support your body through the profound changes you are going through. If however you haven’t been doing regular Pilates classes, we won’t allow you to start until the second trimester, to ensure there’s no extra stress on your body until we know that your pregnancy has progressed past 12 weeks. If you have already been doing Pilates, there is no reason to stop. But be sure to inform your practitioner so that they can modify your program to suit your needs.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW TO PREPARE FOR MY SESSION/CLASS?

For in-person sessions, please arrive 5 minutes early to make yourself comfortable in the studio. You’re welcome to start warming up before the session starts. Similar for online - but from your own home!

Please no sharp jewelery on hands, and no zipper on clothes. Once the vinyl in punctured, they degrade very quickly and it is a costly and timeconsuming process to reupholster. To avoid this, please respect our equipment.

I’M GOING ON HOLIDAY/having a medical event, HOW DO I PAUSE MY membership?

We can definitely pause your membership, but we need 7 days written notice to do this. We also will not retain your regular spots if you pause your membership for more than 2 weeks - completely fine for up to 2 weeks, as this is to ensure fairness to all clients seeking sessions. If you wish to retain your spot, please contact us to discuss your options.
