Orange Franklin Ball
Franklin Balls are fantastic massage balls for the entire body. Soft and forgiving, they will help you relax into any tissue in the body, or support you through movement. These are used to particular effect in those people who are easily stressed, or have certain conditions such as Fibromyalgia, that need to release and relax in a way that doesn’t aggravate their body or create an overload of sensory information.
One of our favourite uses for the Orange Franklin Ball is to release tension around the abdomen. You can do this by lying on your stomach, on top of the ball, with the ball pressing in to the soft tissue of your stomach. Try to lay flat like you were sleeping, and then take a couple slow but deep breaths through your nose. As you relax, gradually roll the ball another couple of centimetres to a different area, still on the stomach. Repeat the breathing until this area relaxes too. Gradually work your way around all the soft areas of your abdomen, and down between your hip bones. You can go towards your ribcage too, but stay off the ribs to avoid excess pressure on the lower ribs which are more fragile.
Also used effectively underneath the feet for massage, balance and proprioceptive work.
