Blue Spiky Ball
These Blue Spiky balls are a staple in the studio. Used mostly for massaging the feet or other areas of the body. They are also for balance work as part of an effective warm up as the spikes provide proprioceptive feedback for the rest of the body. They have a good amount of ‘give’ in them, making them a fantastic starting point for anyone who needs some release work.
Start by doing exercises like trying to roll the ball forward and back under your foot, gradually adding more and more pressure until you find either a nice massage, or a few clicks and cracks in the foot. You can then progress this by placing the ball under the front of your foot, and gradually applying body weight in to it until you feel safe enough to lift the other foot off the ground, if only for a moment. As your confidence grows, gradually increase the length of time balancing on one foot, creating space for your body to naturally auto-correct itself against gravity - the best kind of core warm up you can ask for. Try to accumulate 10 seconds of balancing on the toes, then move on to the arches, and finally the heels.
